Freedom without Walls Project – November 2-9, 2009 Full Events Schedule
The Johns Hopkins University German Program is the recipient of a grant from the German Embassy and the German Information Center to organize activities with students to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the opening of the borders of the former East German State, the German Democratic Republic (DDR).
It has been 20 years since the Friedliche Revolution in the Fall of 1989 as East German citizens took to the streets peacefully in demonstrations and forced the hand of the DDR-government to back away from violent repression of the protests and to grant open access to their borders. On the 9th of November 1989, the world watched in amazement as the very symbol of German postwar division and state repression – the Berlin Wall – fell, leading to the reunification of the two Germanies one year later.
We invite you to participate in the planned commemorative activities during the week of November 2-9 (see below). Students can also be a part of the organization of the events. Activities include a film series, a lecture, a mock replica of the Berlin Wall for display on campus and student designed multi-media projects related to the topic.

Thanks, Johannes! Although I am still tinkering with it, so the look may continue to change.
